the moon represents my heart
mooncake festival. it's that time of the year again. it does not mean anything to me now. but back in the days when i was in primary school, it was a great deal.
we would make elaborate plans for my class pple to gather at the playground opposite our school on the night of the eve of mooncake festival. we would pool money not to buy laterns, but candles, matches and those mini fire works. we just loved playing with fire.
i belonged to the top class where studies meant everything to us -- probably explains my retarded social growth. and mooncake festival being so close to our psle and prelims meant that we had to reschedule our countless tuition sessions so that we could come together and relac relac one corner. my friends who stayed in jurong west and other faraway places would come just for one night of fun. we fought over which play ground to have our gathering each year. it was like our last moment of childhood sanity before the war began, since exams always started after mooncake festival.
the last time we actually did this was in primary 6, 9 years ago. that year, i remembered we created a massive heart using lighted candles. and some of them started tearing at the thought of leaving after 4 years of being in the same class.
ok. just some random reminscence of the distant past. when everything was so much simpler.
let the mooncake and pomelo binging begin!
