and morphs into dire judgement.
contravening thy very own words.
advice becomes groundless.
baseless.

self control so lacking.
so bloody lacking in reserves.
attempts undermined by
a moment of weakness.
a return to the convenient.

perhaps the promise should not.
should not have been made.
because it goes against
the very grain of my fallen nature.

the current crop
falls on deaf ears.
a truth so plain to see.
yet so irreconcilatory.

perhaps this broken promise.
should not have been made at all.
