sunday at the radpad
well. my dark star's sophomore public performance was in itself a musical journey in itself. their selection of songs was a direct manifest of the effort and thought they put into their music. while not exactly absolutely stellar, it was still a blast listening to their works nonetheless. they were obviously missing their lead singer, who was still stuck in dubai. thought it was a funny interlude. liked how understated gt introduced their pieces. liked how they let their music do the talking. i especially liked how they closed their set of 6-7 songs last night with this is how it ends. the way how when brian and gt were done with their parts and started dismantling their equipment while thomas was still singing. a powerful statement albeilt an unconscious one, of how they were going to leave things at.
we adjourned to the radpad's after the gig. a post-gig cum farewell party for brian. who's leaving on thursday for perth. it was the yuenster's turn to exhibit his works to a select group of friends. the setting was brilliant. the lighting was a photographer's wetdream. ok. i diagress. my obsession up the upshot got adrian uncomfortable coz this time it didn't occur to me that i would be pointing my camera up his. urm. berms?
there was pizza. and chips which i contributed. chicken wings. jelly. and baccadi which of course napks dude duly provided. thank goodness it was only 3/4 of a baccadi bottle. shudder to imagine how wasted they would be if i had gone home and gotten my bottles.
the fairfield class of '98 sang the banana song. a classic rendition of our beloved anthem of our yesteryears. which gave all of us a good laugh. senseless. but fun.
then there were stoopid jokes that really cracked us up. napks' joke-churning ability has certainly improved over the years. what took the cream was kelvin's reaction to napks' "what is 4 times 10?" his boisterious spontaneous burst of laughter when he heard the answer to that cracked all of us around. stupendous.
the downside to it. we ended at 3am on a sunday night.
