for the first time this week, i am actually back home before midnight. i actually took the train for the first time this week. it never felt better.
i had originally wanted to forgo my off day on friday to finish my coverage of the swimming nationals. i had gotten quite attached to the event - i mean like i said many times before, i was there as a fan first, then a reporter.
but i remembered what God said about rest, and not busying myself with the things of the world. while swimming was something i like, it is first and foremost work to me.
plus if i had really cancelled the day off tomorrow, i wouldn't have been able to meet up with samuel beh and attend marcus' 21st birthday thingey in the evening.
but i think i would still go back to the office tomorrow - i am short of cash, and i need to make some claims for te 100 bucks worth of taxi fares i accumulated in the week shuttling to and fro the singapore sports school in woodlands.
on a lighter note, i managed to talk about God to some of the swimmers i interviewed. i found out one of them is a christian, and i had a great time just talking to him about his faith and swimming.
it was different at the pool today - i was just there to orientate my colleague who will cover me tomorrow. i was just talking to the people i already knew there as a human being, and not a reporter. it felt so different i tell you.
well, the control freak in me surfaced a little just now and my colleague was a little miffed at me. i realised it in time to step back and let her do her thing, instead of dictating what she had to do.
oh well. i apologized for my misdemeanour after that. but really, i should just learn to let go more. i may enjoy my work, but it's only work.
i hope to get a story out on sunday for monday's papers. i reckon it's going to be breaking news, so watch out for it.
meanwhile, i am just going to catch up on my sleep and have a life. sheer bliss.
