g-star raw-ks

i just came back from the acjc choir concert and i was appalled to hear how the current batch of students sounded. the tenor section was awfully soft while the sopranos sounded too loud for their own good - some of them actually went out of tune and tone. these people should just learn from their seniors. in fact i think the rounder sound of the alumni choir salvaged the combined choir performance. i hope they improve in time for the syf finals in july.

the choir concert at the esplanade concert hall culminated what was a long day for me.

i forced myself out of bed to make my breakfast meeting with weijie in clementi. we meet slightly after 9am and had the wan tan mee at clementi central. this was about the first breakfast i had for as long as i can remember. both wj and me were dead tired, but it was good meeting up with him for an hour or so. caught up with him about some stuff, and just basically hung out. bought breakfast for my family, which ended up becoming their brunch.

then good old george called to say he's ok for lunch.

rushed home. showered. changed into semi-formal gear for the concert and bused down to borders. he's botak now because of bmt, but i had to walk 2 rounds round the magazine section before i spotted him. gee.

spent 3 hours shopping for his father's birthday present, but i think we spent more time window shopping for ourselves. wah, coming so soon after a trip yesterday, this was retail overload. i realised george and myself like the same stuff. great! coz he suggested for the same amount of money the fourskin bag i was eyeing cost, i could get something like that for cheaper at bugis.

then bumped into some of our students we taught at fairfield, who passed some utterly shallow comments about the apparently gay-bag he was carrying.

after 3 hours, we finally settled down to doing what we met up to do - lunch. george is perhaps the only person who insists on paying for meals - coz usually i do the paying for most people i go out with. so it was a refreshing change that the credit-debit system between george and myself is somewhat more equal.

it was a day of catching up with the 2 dudes i used to take for Bible study on wednesdays when they were in J1 in 2003. time really flies. i was just reminiscing how i used to rush down in my number four to that cramped room at aldersgate to talk about God with them - and now they are the ones in green.

i stopped co-leading that group of sheow-en because i got too busy, but i continued keeping in contact with them. touching base with them once in a while, like today. restarting it could be an option when all of them are more settled with their national service obligations, but i don't want to think about that now. too many things. too many things.

if only everyday could be as fulfilling as this.

i am just feeling a tad feverish now. it could be just that i am too tired, or it could also mean my wound is getting a bit inflamed. either way, i have to bring my antiseptic cream and gauze and roller tape down to jakarta with me. think i finished packing, save for my hair wax and toothbrush which will go into my bag tomorrow morning.

oh, a quick story about the wound. i was packing my bag yesterday night. i didn't realise i didn't close my cupboard door, so i stood up from a squatting position and i bumped my back into the sharp ends of my cupboard door. i was bleeding quite a bit and i was motion-less from the pain for a while. it still stings when i showered just now. i hope it doesn't act up on me in the next week.

i hope i don't forget anything. and i hope my nagging fear that my yellow adidas bag will be lost in transit is something out of paranoia and not rooted to any deja-vu reality.

time to hit the sack. the flight's at 11am. got to be at the airport by 9am. got to meet deborah to get picked up by serene's mom at 8am tomorrow.

see you in a week. i hope i don't die due to a lack of internet access. it's like a drug to me. and i am addicted to it. cold turkey time i suppose.
