stocking up on a precious commodity

examinations make me depressed. i have been thinking a lot more the last couple of weeks. when i am not studying, i am thinking of my major problem and the possible ramifications of my decision. at least the immediate ones that pertain to my job options. and then i have been thinking whether i am doing too much, what with mentoring the boys and keep tabs on a couple of my juniors in national service and leading cell in church. and then in the new academic year, there's the one in vcf to think about. don't get me started on the home situation.

everything's just goes into overdrive the moment i stop studying.

today, however, my body was in total auto shut down mode. it all started with my oversleeping this morning. i was consequently late for service - entered the sanctuary when they were almost done with communion. i felt totally out of sorts today - it could be because i thought it was so humid and hot today.

i was hoping not to go to school today to mug, because it would be the fifth time in a row i would be violating the whole notion of Sabbath. i doubt i am being legalistic here, because i do acknowledge my need for a rest. plus i am really sick of studying.

so against my greater sense and reason and pushing those thoughts of undone political science essay plans out of my mind, and despite me still lugging my laptop and my books around, i decided after having lunch with the cell people, that i should take a break today.

so i made a wasted trip down to trumpet praise and then acts bookstore to buy the new united live cd - out of stock at both locations. then i overslept on the bus ride home. bah! i should have called before i gone down or something.

came home and slept the whole afternoon away - my first afternoon nap in a long, long while. so long ago i can't remember when the last one was.

and it is really amazing what an extra dose of shut-eye can do to your sanity in this highly-strung period of time. i woke up after four hours to a small headache, but after a cold shower it was mostly gone. maybe it's coz i am spending too much time in the air-conditioned library. did i already mention how hot i thought it was today?

so for the first time in a long while, i actually have the air-conditioning switched on in my room. and i am not going to do any work through the night. i am going to sleep early and try to start early tomorrow. the political science paper is at 5pm on tuesday. sigh.

my temporal break is coming to an end too soon. despite the traces of guilt i sense somewhere in the recesses of my mind of having not done what i thought should be done today, i think i am quite glad for this enforced day of rest today.

i just want to sleep. maybe if i shut my eyes hard enough, the next week will over now. nevermind my birthday is this saturday, just as long as the exams are over and i get the grades i need to push my CAP score to the second upper regions.
