back for part two

the new term started today. i had a south asian lecture that started at 12 noon...and i was still late, because i was held up at the photocopying shop zapping notes and it was crowded. ok. no excuses here. coz by the time i reached the photocopying place, it was 12 already.

was a bit overwhelmed seeing so many people again. and the need to be constantly on the move along the corridors to the arts canteen. and up and down the staircases in the labrynith that is arts and social sciences faculty. all the movement among the moving crowds made me quite dizzy.

lectures were ok. i had an linguistics lecture after the south asian one. the lecturer was very passionate and from the first lecture, is a very good lecturer -- so her teaching awards were not for nothing.

during vcf care group meeting, i realised that an over riding concern of mine was to jack up my CAP score. and that i was in danger of burning myself out with geosphere, potentially the vcf musical, church stuff plus studying. then i got reminded of how my vcf care group leader told us she prayed more last semester -- and got excellent results. not that i am going to pray more just to get better results, but the thing that struck me was that i needed to rely more on God, and less on clement when it came to my studies. God knows i try hard -- too hard in fact. i need to let go and let God.

was just talking to deborah on the way back from esplanade on saturday night where we attended leeson's debut gig. and she was telling me how to relax and not get too preoccupied with results, because in an arts education, it's important that we allow our creative juices to flow. and if we clam up and start getting all jittery and worked up because of any pressure to do well, we would then ironically deprive ourselves of the much needed creative juices because we don't allow ourselves the time and space to think out of the box and more crucially, enjoy the whole academic experience of learning.

and there is also the small matter of geosphere. there are a lot of things to be done, but i think i shall do the breakdown-into-individual-task thing so it won't look so daunting. everything's almost in now, so there's just the actual editing and contacting of the printer and applying for the publishing permit. and oh, the art work and the templates.

two weeks before tutorials start, better get everything under way. i am not going to let my readings accumulate till week 6 like i did in the last semester again.
