oh well. tomorrow marks the start of mug month. exams are due 19 november, so i will start intensive mugging from tomorrow. this translate into late night studing, all evening studying and what have you, but it is not entirely about books. i am still going to meet people for lunches and dinners and movies, but just that everything has to be more measured now. no more for example 2 late nights out in a row like thursday and friday the last week.
it's all coming along quite ok now i reckon. not all peaceful but somehow i know He is holding everything together.
on the subject of films and watching it in the school library's media viewing centre, it is really amazing how you see contrasting images and sounds. in one corner, you have ang-mo students grooving to the tunes from forever fever, you have lit students tearing from being too touched by a beautiful mind, you see freaked out lit students from watching polanski's repulsion, hear maniac laughter from the comedies and you grasp the intense concentration of sociology students watching giraffes being speared to death in a video for their visual-ethography class. so surreal. so avant garde. so representative of the complexities of the human range of emotions.
and fairfield made the news again. this time it's due to a talkingcock.com-esque website slamming everything that is being done to run the school. the sunday times ran an article of how the fairfield school website is hacked -- which is TOTALLY wrong. the website is on its own and is happytamponfriends.tk, BUT i think vincent and me must have been the last few to read those stuff because it is now taken offline. thought the satirical humour really illustrated a lot of truths, but at the same time i thought some of the articles were downright disrespectful. i emailed the webmaster cautioning his endeavours -- that some times it is not about so much about self censorship, but an issue of respect. that guy actually quoted the singapore constitution on the right to free speech -- i kindda told him to wake up. not that i am slamming singapore, but the current situation is never going to allow a kerry-bush type of a debate here. look what happened to chee soon juan and tang liang hong -- although i seriously think they are cock-anathans and a lousy representation of singapore's non-existent opposition. they made "baseless accusations" against the mr goh and our grand old uncle lee and he gets charged in court for defamation. in singapore, you just can't say that someone is an obnoxious pig politically if you can't substantiate that pig-ness of that someone. anyway, that poor guy has my sympathy. think students need to be heard. coz his griped sound so familiar -- they were the same misgivings i had as a student. but at the same time, after having taught there as well, i do see the other side of the story and quite honestly, am quite hesistant to judge. but i still think the articles are damn funny.
one more month left before i get a month's break. i can't wait to do nothing but meet up with my friends who are returning for their summer break end year. but in the mean time...
...there's still that one more month.
