i was so bloody late for my lunch appointment with daniel huang at holland village today. arranged to meet him at 11.30am but only got up at 11.20am -- blame it on the cool weather. i simply love it! heh.
oh well. we caught up and stuff. we finally acted on our pact to meet up properly again after i accidentally bumped into him at the driving school. he has since gotten his license, while i...urm, still license-less though i started in november of 2001. ugh! the mere mention of this anomaly just gets me all riled.
let's see. then i went on to cell group in church. and saturday evening service. where pastor daniel talked about the objective reality of God -- how the secular world perceives God to be objective when He is all real and exists whether you believe it or not.
yeah. he raised the example of gravity. it is real, whether you believe it or not. like gravity, the reality of God is as such. whether you choose to believe in Him is immaterial, He still exists. His presence is real. which got me thinking actually.
today's sermon was actually an evangelical one. message not exactly meant for me. but i was reminded of some truths. like the benefit of hindsight. how when one is trouble, we wouldn't have the benefit of trouble at that point in time to know that my trial is all part of His great master plan for me. i probably would just want the way out of that trouble right then.
but if God calls us to be in this world, but not of this world. a christian response would call us to live above our current circumstance. not that we become pain-addicts, but we hold on stedfast to a hope we have in Him. that we know someone cares. we may not believe He exists. but He does. and He cares. that He allows for some things to happen to us so that it moulds character. and more importantly, He knows we have it within us to handle what is thrown at us.
i actually rushed back early today and gave the made in singapore concert at the esplanade a miss because i needed to rewatch the get real! episode on channelnewsasia to get the address of the blogger who claims to be a social commentator. oh well. he turned out to be not what i expected. i may act on mark's lead though. thanks bro!
didn't do as much as i wanted to today. i need to get started on formulating my area of interest, my topic and my basic premise for argument tomorrow. and more soci readings. and more neuroscience readings as well. a bit too much for tmr. but i'll just work and see how much i can do. it's all well. in His timing.
in other news, this last week i attended my first varsity christian fellowship teaching on wednesday. it's a monthly thing and i talked to somebody and would be attending an arts-fac cell group on monday evening. i am also going for the campers' crusade meeting this thursday evening. don't worry -- i am not dipping my finger into too many pies again. i am just trying things out so i can decide what to join. i do increasingly feel a call to campus ministry -- God didn't just place me in NUS not without a reason.
oh. and before i am done for the day. does it interest you i saw leandra at burger king holland village today? and i mean i am a singapore idol fan, but i can't quite comprehend how the local kids actually dig into them being actual idols. quite mind bogling actually. hmm. maybe i could base a whole research paper on it for my future sociology classes. heh.
