battlefield earth

i am currently embroiled in a small conversation about the validity of God over at alywin's blog. and quite honestly i can't quite decide to continue. because it's no point me being my aggressive self when it comes to argument because it's not the point in this case. so what if i 'win', i may cause more people to harden their stance against God.

but then again, why they probably the way they are now is probably because christians have always maintained their silence when these people asked probing intrusive questions about God. and christian people don't answer their questions because it is 'not nice' to be so aggressive. meanwhile, however, the people who are deluded who are at the forefront of the mass media make no qualms about publicising what they think and why they think God is irrelevant. as a result, the influence among the educated public is therefore rather telling. yes. we talk about how God does things in His own time. but have it ever occurred to you that by keeping quiet and being all nice about things, us christians are expressing tacit approval.

i am so guilty of it. the one and only person i brought to church is my best friend when i was eight years old. i never thought i had it within myself to rebutt a person and help to reimpose the truth. don't get me wrong. this is not spiritual snobbery, but rather a reaction to how i have been not purposefully been doing anything about the Great Commission. i have kept silent all this while because i keep telling myself i am not well-versed in christian apologetics. and have not done anything about it.

and over at the singapore idol website, on the comments thread for david yeo and jerry ong, it is quite startling how people are starting to question the type of encouragement that fellow christians like myself have been offering to the christian contestants. but it's all good. at least things are being explained to young minds.

it's so fashionable and cool to not have a care in the world, and have an opinion of your own -- that is usually against what is apparently irrelevant and what holds you back. but is it really all that good for you if you keep escaping and repressing your conscience telling you what the crust of the issue is? God warns in the book of romans that he is a gentleman and that while He gives us the choice whether to believe in Him or not, He will not impose Himself on us against our choice. over time, constant denial of Him would result in a depraved mind. read all about it in romans chapter 12.

it's time to equip myself and learn to engage people not too aggressively. i honestly have had enough of that helpless feeling when people say the things they do with so much vigour -- when i seriously doubt whether their words is a result of their own personal experience or the result of the influence of a super anti-Christ.

time to rock on battlefield earth for Him.
