yesterday was past versus present games day back at fairfield. it was one with a maked difference since the alumni association and the school took great pains to make the games just part of a bigger event fairfield family day.
we had our open house with the primary school visiting us as fairfield secondary opened its doors to primary 6 students who are checking out what the school can offer them. we also had a mini fun fair with games and food stalls all over the school. so it was like incorporating the past, present and future generations of fairsians all together. i thought this idea is better than having a once-in-a-long-while fun fair which doesn't have quite a noble aim such as this.
i hardly saw people from my batch though. other than the bb people like rufus, norman, zhuxing and my juniors, other than from my sec four class, the people in my batch were largely absent.
looking back, it has been 6 full years since we last left fairfield. next year would mark 10 years since we first entered sec one all those years ago.
what made it special for me was the whole experience of seeing my friends from school and my students now. them all being in the same place was something i quite cherished. there were the current sec fours whom i taught in 2 years ago. the sec ones whom i just taught for a week. the current J2's who were working with me on those camps 2 years ago.
i guess i can never recreate the past with such detailed precision, but i'll make do with the essence of the spirit.
