an unconnected triangle

it's a triangle that never meets
he likes her and she doesn't know he likes her
and she tells him that she likes someone else.

his heart sank
but it should have been something he should have known.
it was palpable
even when he was away all the life
half way round the world.

that sparkle in her eye
that child-like candour and staccato-like words.
as she speaks of her uninbited joy, his heart breaks into pieces.
he hopes she can hear them drop to the ground
but it's a sound and a pain only felt by him.
it's for him and Him to bear.

he made a choice to stay away.
a confusion that could well hurt
everyone around if they got dragged in.
escapism is but a valiant attempt
never ending, ever cascading.

he draws strength from the promise.
the promise of greater things
of a greater plan
by someone else who knows best.
