dead but hardly forgotten
i just realised that it was gerald ho's 4th death anniversary just a few hours ago. gerald ho is/was arguably the bestest friend i could ever have had, who passed away on 23 may 2000.
gerald stayed so very near me. we used to go on runs together. in college, he used to help me with econs a lot. used to talk on the phone on stupid guy stuff. with his dumb ass corny analogies he used to tell me. attributes his ability to churn out seemingly inane analogies to his brother. who was a very great influence over him.
his bro is a military officer. he wanted to be like him too. in fact he probably passed away partly because he wanted to be in officer cadet school too badly. his brother excelled in chess. he strived to be better, and was getting to be much better. more than ever, he was a friend who listened. who was more than a soccer khaki.
i struggle and vaciliate between the past and the present tense writing this article because i guess although i moved on, i still haven't quite forgotten having someone who shared my friendship values. and thing is, i don't think i ever will.
peace.
