three and a half months

that's the time from now to my official discharge from compulsory military service. i can hardly wait to join the ranks of my fellow undergraduate friends in the local university.

i had always anticipated 4 august 2004 with glee and unabated breath. but now when i look at the prospectus and begin to decide what i really want to study other than geography and literature, i suddenly realise there are so many things i want to do. but there are also so many restrictions put in place to ensure breadth in my education. do i really want to be on the university scholars programme where i have to do some mathematics/science modules when my last contact with anythin remotely scientific/mathematical was in secondary school?

and one crucial point about financial security. i am drawing a subtantial amount. once i leave the force, i would be forced to seek alternative sources of income. which is going to be very difficult. i do not intend to depend on my parents for my primary source of income. it would be very weird going back onto their payroll after going off it for the last 2 years plus.

i guess i just cannot have everything. blah.
