moments

as just chatting with my mom over dinner today. i recalled those classic moments in my life.

like the time in jurong institute where someone stole the one-thousand-dollar bill from my bag. i had placed it in my bag, deep in the recesses of it. i told nobody except for one of my friend. stupidly enough, i let it out of my sight by leaving my bag outside the office as i went into the staff room to see my teacher. i should have put it in my wallet as well. the money as for my air ticket to sydney.

when i came out of the office, did a check and found it missing -- that sinking feeling. i could not function properly for a week. it was like i was floating around. it was so surreal. the guilt of being so stupid. so careless to let someone steal 1000 dollars.

my mom insists it was that one friend who stole it since she was the only one to know of it. back then, i insisted that she wasn't the one. but now when i remember how paranoid she was when i wanted to go to the police, i finally understood.

but that sinking feeling, when my mind just got so overwhelmed. something i will never ever forget.

but from it all, my ties with mom was strengthed. she didn't yell at me. she said it was ok. i yelled at her -- it's not ok! i lost one thousand bucks mommy! one freaking thousand bucks! i seriously felt like dying. those tears just couldn't even fear. i just was so shocked.

on today's a-thank-you-a-day-keeps-the-demons-at-bay series, thank God for answering my prayers as to where to go for university locally. i am pretty much sure it's going to be nus since it's so near church and home. think it's going to be more convenient and not so disruptive of the stuff i would be doing in church. but now, here's another challenge from Him -- i had a wild fleeting thought of holding university for one more year after my national service obligations, to go for TRIBUTE. but i have got practical considerations as well. coz finishing my basic degree and finishing it well would be like an unspoken obligation to my mom. for putting in so much effort in bringing me up. even if she doesn't acknowledge it, i know it matters to her.
