the safe pleateau

it's so difficult
getting to the plateau.
those difficult steps you have to take.
those minute decisions you have to make.
one mistake.
and you would slip.
and it's back to square one.

but after making the effort
when u are exhausted.
and when u hit a zone.
comfort zone.
a place that reminds you
that change has been effected.
and goes on to cloud your judgement.
that seeks to placate
your fatigued mind.
you may be tempted to stay stagnant.
and not move.

but when you don't move.
you get left behind.
complacency sets in.
your progress is retarded.

relentlessly you shall move.
take a break. take in the sights.
but after that
moving on requires courage.
and a clear intent.
resolve to get to the bottom of things.

when the plateau
offers you temporary escapism.
that is only safe in itself.
why settle for any less
than the view.
the view from the mountain top?
