too busy?

after almost 8 months of stop-start action and non-action, and after 2 consecutive all-nighters, i am glad to say barring any more major editing, i am finally done with the writing for geosphere magazine.

this coupled with how much i accomplished today made me really happy with myself. i finally got myself a haircut. then i went to the bank to get a new bank book because the old one ran out of space. then i packed the much vaunted clementi central market wantan mee and a huge cup of chin-chow back to chatterbox in school to proceed with my editing work.

somehow during my time at the usp student room, i decided to submit my essay on political apathy to be considered for publication on the usp's annual student writing journal. and start thinking about my application for the writing assistant position. i felt like i really accomplished something today after the past week of post-exam sloth syndrome.

but at the vcf agm on monday night, the outgoing vcf chairperson, paul seah, shared about the perils of busyness in the life of a christian. and it dawned upon me that i have subconsciously forgotten about what God told me earlier about "doing more with less" - daniel lin was right about how i am a slave to work in our msn conversation a few days ago.

mom asked me just now - after exams already still so busy ah?

i looked at my schedule. and it's even more packed than before the examinations. i have still yet to convert my magazine template into indesign format. i have to call the printers up to arrange for geosphere to be sent for printing. and then arrange for payment. then there's the planning for the cg retreat and the retreat itself next week.

then there's arts open house next saturday where hopefully, geosphere will be launched. and then in the afternoon, i'm kindda "invited" to the epistotle planning meeting - epistotle is the vcf publication which i kindda agreed to write a regular column for next academic year.

then after that, it's the east asian regional conference in kinasih for a week. which means i have to call my insurance agents up to finalise the list of my beneficiaries for my insurance policies in case anything happens to me while in indonesia. and then there's the small thing of money changing.

when i am back, it's straight into vcf leaders planning camp for about a week. and then i have to finish up my driving license and hopefully start work somewhere - be it as an intern at one of sph or mediacorp magazine or print press or something else.

there's freshman orientation camp which i am trying to figure how to factor into my work schedule assuming if i get to work that is.

all of this do not include church stuff yet.

which means, in a nutshell, i am perhaps too busy for my own good. or is it? would i rather be idle and do nothing and rot at home - and play warcraft 3 everyday?

maybe not. i don't see my schedule as an overload considering i have about 3 months of summer vacation. i will definitely take some time out to chill, but paul's message came at a time where i feel it's a reminder not to let busyness affect my relationship with God. and not to use busyness as an excuse for not doing anything else.

now for some sleep.

Wow... you ARE busy. How can you stand that? Don't you want to do nothing for a while? Why be so busy when you'll be busier when you start work?
