when the sky's the limit

on a day where there was an uncanny first -- for the first time ever, both my sisters and i have an exam that started at the same time, so many things didn't quite go my way.

it was quite funny seeing the three of us trudge to the main road to flag a cab to take us to our venues. but our fortunes couldn't have been more different in the exam hall. today's neuroscience paper was weird. the focus of the essay portion didn't reflect the emphasis he set during lectures and all. there were a good 3 to 4 10-mark questions on sleep, consciousness and dreams. i effectively left out 30 out of 100 marks. and there was negative marking for the mcq's -- half a point off for every wrong choice made. the 2 good things out of this -- one, that it's all over and two, the exam is only 30% of the whole grade.

singapore idol was horrendous. taufik and that chao ah beng, sylvester made it through to the grand finals. when asked for their comments, it's like the judges all know something that we don't -- that despite sylvester's glaring lack of talent, he is going to be crowned the first singapore idol. ken was right to say that he have it easy -- he just needs to wink a little and act cool and he gets the votes. it doesn't really matter if he slaughters the phantom classic "music of the night" or make a mess out of justin timberlake's songs, he will win because the record company wants him to. because he is the only one who can be an effective cross-over to the chinese market. perhaps ken should not have gave him that advice to "smile more" in the beginning. perhaps adrian is right after all.

and the takeover that the stupid yankie, malcolm grazer, is trying to attempt. he is going to ruin the football game and my beloved man utd. i know it's common business strategy for him to propose to mortagage old trafford for him to buy the club, but would you honestly think any soccer person in the right frame of mind would allow this deal to pass? certainly not when manchester united is perhaps the only club to be not in debt and earning loads still. perhaps it's the modernisation of the game that is a consequence, but i think in football, there has to be a limit somewhere. manchester united is only where it is today because of its past results. a successful malcolm grazer take-over would not only compromise the club's financial situation, but also means that the soul of the club and football at large is sold to the devil as well. i know they are the red devils, but really sports and business can only mix so much.

the sky's the limit -- sometimes it's not about making new grounds, it's about knowing where to take your ambitions to.
