like malcolm caught in the cross fire that is his household, he inevitably gets himself involved against his own will. yes, malcolm in the middle may be a comedy, but isn't what is going on a circus already?
only now i begin to understand how it feels like to be caught in the line of fire between 2 sides.
i don't necessarily think either side is absolutely correct. but i do know both sides should have handled it better. things are so vague. the only thing i know is that i am standing on the side of God.
guess what? i now got a divine warning -- let this persist, and the repercussions will be many. and i don't mean to lean towards the leadership, because our ministry is one of reconciliation.
and i keep getting this standards thing. week in week out. emails all over. i don't think making standards our focus is going to get us anywhere -- focusing on the principles behind these standards is.
and making a stand and seeing people fall by the wayside may have biblical parallels. but it is also judging people -- which the Bible doesn't advocate. because quite simply, only God judges.

I guess this goes back to Shakespeare, "Whether tis better to endure the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or by opposing, end them" I'd say that the Bible doesn't necessarily preclude judgment (though I know a lot of people read it that way). I think that Jesus said that it was necessary to judge righteous judgment. "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged", etc.
Snap decisions, prejudice, superficialities aren't the right things to judge on, obviously. But if we can judge good from evil (and we should be able to do that), and if you're going to be making judgments anyway (because honestly, we can't help it), then it becomes even more important to make sure that we're using the right kind of judgment. At least, IMHO.
hmm...zach, do you know the context? u're right about judging what is righteous behaviour. but what abt decisions that are supposed to include, but exclude and cause divisions when it shouldn't be?
