seacrest out

and so season three of american idol draws to a close. fantasia barino emerges champion. but i really think this season there wasn't exactly a stand-out like clay aiken was last year. this year, the best technical singer is la toya london, but she's a tad too predictable and that's where fantasia comes in. the third person that stood out for me is jennifer hudson for her hounding vocals. reminds me loads of whitney houston. and who else can quite leave out the runner-up, diana di garmo.

watching the finale show was touching, inspiring and sentimental all in one. it encapsulated what the whole show was all about. the essence. the spirit of it. the bottom line.

and it made me think why on earth am i going to embark on this singapore idol journey of mine. as i hear them sing 'i believe', the song written by tamyra gray, and fantasia's rendition of 'dream', i finally was able to reconcile my love for singing and my distant dream of wanting to sing for a living. at least for a while. i acknowledged that i am in this competition to see how i measure up and if i am up to it, then maybe i can think of singing. and if i am serious about it, i would sit down and finally decide what i am going to sing.

i think i lived with regrets for most of my life. just like the dilemma 2 years ago whether to cross over from sispec to ocs, this is one "what-if" i can do without in my life. ever.
