vomit
people often accuse singaporeans of living without passion and following what's mundane and practical. people who choose studies over sports are called practical, sensible, typically singaporean. but what about those who choose sport and not make a decent effort at all? aren't they supposedly passionate about what they do?
do their levels of passion and committment even meet the criteria? or merit the stinky amount of money that they are paid each month.
look at those spoilt brats who are passing off as professional players in the local s-league. i caught the match between them and malaysia and my blood just began to boil. for the amount of time, money and not to mention effort put into the development of the sport, the under-23 team were guilty of inferior fitness and blatant ball watching -- nevermind those favourable press reports and those images of players crying.
so what if you are skillful and technically competent? they often dream of being like david beckham and zinedine zidane, but it does not dawn upon them that success only comes with hard work. do they stay on the training grounds way beyond what they are suppose to? so many local players are just satisfied being the top of the local cohort. what about the international field?
those prima-donnas just have no brains. if not for the s-league, with their qualifications, would they still be getting 3000 bucks a month? would they be driving their cars and all? if not for the s-league set up, 8 out of 10 of them would be gallivanting in the void decks otherwise. and they can whine about the pay cuts that had to come with the economic downturn. one local footballer was 'confident' that he can get another club if his folds -- such arrogance.
i say forget about goal 2010. at this rate, we will NEVER make it to the 2100 asian cup finals, never mind the world cup finals. no heart, no passion, no diligence. singapore soccer is just doomed to failure after failure. period.
