bidding good bye again

went to lao pok's house to join sue-anne, yuenster, morgan, jimmy!, june and vicky as they waited to go to the airport in the wee hours of the morning to see kangz off on his flight to detroit. basically pigged out on chicken wings from commonwealth and fried mee hoon. and the yuenster made a sitar out of the good old trusty guitar with -- get this -- a stapler. tsk tsk.

after lotsa laughs over food, people decided to adjourn for a rest. the yuenster however had other ideas -- he picked up lao pok's trusty old guitar.

then i started talking about han jin. and yuen played 2 songs from the days when we used to hit fat frog's every friday and/or saturday night for our weekly fix of melancholy. something i couldn't keep and why things can't be the way they used to be brought forth memories. then there was the song that yuen wrote. now what's the title?

anyway, i diagress. weikang at the airport.

it was like only yesterday that kangz broke the news of his successful scholarship application attempt. not that it was in any doubt -- that guy has a perfect academic record plus he was hockey vice-captain. it was 2 years ago by the way. when i was still preparing for my very own attempt at the A levels. when he was still in OCS. i remembered being thoroughly envious. heh.

and now. time really flies doesn't it? i have been through this whole process of saying goodbye too many times now. this time around, the usual thoughts and emotions haunted me, but i am pretty numb to them all already. so after the usual hugs and goodbyes, he was off through the gates. and off to america. good bye doode.

quote of the day "it's not fair. how come my guitar doesn't sound so good when i am playing it?" -- "lock-kok lao pok" sue-anne when yuen was doing his thang with the guitar.
